Hydrogen Technology and Safety: Basics for Plant Operators

🗓️22/04/2026-23/04/2026

📍Germany

The seminar titled 'Hydrogen Technology and Safety: Basics for Plant Operators' is organized by the VDI Association of German Engineers, aimed at providing essential knowledge regarding the safe handling of hydrogen as an alternative energy source and energy storage medium. Hydrogen, being an exposed chemical element, comes with specific safety requirements that will be thoroughly discussed during this seminar. Participants will gain insights into applicable regulations and standards, as well as safety-related parameters associated with hydrogen. The seminar is designed to equip attendees with crucial knowledge required for conducting risk analyses and hazard assessments, alongside foundational principles of explosion protection. The curriculum includes a comprehensive overview of safety aspects when handling hydrogen, covering guidelines and regulations pertinent to plant manufacturers and operators. It will also address risk assessment and damage mechanisms in hydrogen applications, alongside measurement and safety technology requirements. Participants will learn about the properties and features of hydrogen, mass and energy balance in hydrogen applications, and the general technical challenges associated with high-pressure processes in hydrogen production and utilization. This seminar not only offers theoretical insights but also includes a practical component, allowing attendees to engage with selected plant components and understand the challenges related to leaks and diffusion in hydrogen applications.
