The IEEE Electrical Energy Storage Applications and Technologies (EESAT) Conference is set to be a significant gathering for energy storage professionals, taking place at the Omni Tucson National Resort in Casas Adobes, United States. Since its inception in 2000, EESAT has established itself as the premier technical forum for sharing advancements in energy storage technologies and applications. This event is organized by the IEEE Electronics Packaging Society with support from the IEEE Energy Storage and Stationary Battery (ESSB) Committee, and backing from the DOE Office of Electricity and various national laboratories. This year's Conference will spotlight cutting-edge developments in electricity storage technologies, including innovative battery chemistries—such as flow, sodium, and zinc batteries—as well as other designs, flywheels, and hydrogen storage solutions. The agenda will also address advancements in power conversion systems that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of grid-scale and distributed renewable energy storage. In addition, discussions will cover topics related to energy management and device management systems aimed at maximizing value while ensuring safe and reliable operation. The Conference will also delve into markets, standards, and policy frameworks that are essential for unlocking the potential of energy storage as a key enabler of the energy transition. EESAT aims to cultivate a collaborative environment where researchers and professionals from diverse disciplines in energy storage can exchange ideas and work together to tackle significant challenges in the field. As part of its mission, the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) plays a crucial role in developing industry standards and advancing technology, software, and best practices across all aspects of electric power and energy. This includes generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization, ensuring a reliable, resilient, safe, cost-effective, and sustainable electricity supply system. PES is committed to enhancing current power system infrastructures and embracing technological advancements in energy resources, smart grids, and smart cities for societal benefit. Overall, EESAT 2026 will not only foster a rich exchange of knowledge among attendees but also strengthen the community of practice surrounding energy storage research, breaking down barriers that typically separate various technical societies and journals.
