The International Conference: The Crossroad of International Environmental Law: Paradoxes of Energy Transition and Global Inequalities is scheduled to take place at the UOC Open University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. This significant event is being jointly organized by the European Society of International Law (ESIL) Interest Groups on the European & International Rule of Law and International Environmental Law, along with the Institut de Drets Humans de Catalunya and the Centre d’Estudis de Dret Ambiental de Tarragona (CEDAT), as well as gLAWcal – Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development.This Conference invites abstracts that delve into the critical intersection of energy transition, environmental law, and human rights, particularly with a focus on their implications for the Global South. Topics of interest encompass a range of pressing issues, including just transition and environmental justice, the human rights impacts of renewable energy, corporate responsibility in global governance, and the complexities surrounding trade, investment, and the paradoxes of clean energy. Participants are encouraged to submit their abstracts, which will undergo a blind review process. Selected papers will be expected to be drafted and there are potential publication opportunities being considered for either a book or a journal special issue. This Conference promises to foster vibrant discussions and contributions to the field of international environmental law.
