Scientific Research in the Service of the Energy Transition

🗓️17/09/2025-18/09/2025

📍French Polynesia

The event titled 'Scientific Research in the Service of the Energy Transition' will take place at the University of French Polynesia in Puna'auia. This seminar, organized by Sciencesconf.org, aims to address the critical energy transition challenges facing French Polynesia, where the dependency on hydrocarbon imports is currently at a staggering 94%. The seminar is particularly focused on the energy-intensive sectors of transport and electricity production, which are essential for the region's development and sustainability. Scheduled for September 18 and 19, 2025, the event will serve as a platform for researchers, political figures, industrial representatives, and scientific bodies to discuss the future needs of an efficient, responsible, and equitable energy transition in French Polynesia. This gathering is part of a broader initiative following the establishment of the Energy Transition Fund (FTE) by both the State and the government of French Polynesia. It is also supported by the newly formed TranPolyn Research Group (GDR) created by CNRS in 2024. The GDR's objectives include proposing innovative clean and renewable energy production and storage systems that cater to the unique configurations of the islands while ensuring their integration into existing or planned electricity networks. The seminar will provide updates on various research and development projects linked to the GDR's actions and foster discussions on creating a model for energy transition that could benefit other islands as well.
